Our thoughts…..
Jono Davies - Company Director/Principal Garden Designer: Setting up Rune Garden Design over 6 years ago, I set out with one simple pledge ‘ create great detailed designed gardens at a low cost’ making good design available to everyone. I stand by this pledge and it is this that makes Rune Garden design one of the finest garden design and landscaping companies in the country. We continue to go from strength to strength.
Designing gardens has been an ultimate passion of mine since I was a young child, from having my very own growing patch at the age of 10, working at one of Scotland’s prestigious Botanic Gardens to being qualified in horticulture, garden construction and garden management, through to achieving a First Class Honors Degree in Garden Art and Design some 14 years later. Gardens and design will always be part of me.
From the simplicity of drawing with line and measurement to the complexity of the feelings and emotions a garden can evoke, to this day garden design and the landscape of gardens still intrigues and surprises me.
Ted Wynn - Landscape Project Manager I have worked in the landscape and horticultural industry for over 15 years. I started my career by working for a large commercial contractor, building and creating public open spaces and show gardens as part of varied building developments. With a change of direction in sight and after gaining sufficient experience, I embarked on the private and domestic landscape sector. Whilst working for a prestigious landscape company I led different teams in building many private gardens for over 6 years. Although I was very proud of the creations, I needed to take the next step and work for a professional garden design company.
Neil White - Site Manager: After spending my early years having a love for gardens and growing plants in my greenhouse, I decided to enter horticulture as a profession. I attended Pershore College for 3 years, studying Amenity and Landscape management. After working in the landscape industry for few years I returned to my roots and pursued my natural passion for growing plants. I worked in the Nursery sector now for 5 years specializing in herbaceous and hardy stock. I have worked as a Landscape supervisor for Rune for over 2 year. Working alongside some amazing hard materials and fantastic plants. Being part of creating beautiful gardens and knowing that i help achieve the overall feeling of the garden gives me such a great pleasure.
Richard Bryant - Landscape Assistant Supervisor: My career with Rune started 3 years ago when I left school. during the time in which I was in secondary education, I studied two technologies to an A* level. Drawing from that knowledge and expertise, I have become well practiced in most aspects of hard landscaping projects. My love of garden and other soft landscaping projects comes from being raised in a market gardening family in the local countryside. From this background, I have a real appreciation for the process through which plants and trees live and grow.
Andreas Malandrinos - Landscaper Supervisor: After finishing my A levels, I went and traveled across Australia and New Zealand. Whilst I was away, I enjoyed lots of outdoor activities and sports. I also experienced the differences between cultures. When returning, I completed an art foundation course. i have always enjoyed art and consider myself a creative person. I then decided to combine my creative side and my love for the outdoors and haven’t looked back since. I recently completed a HNC Garden Design course at Pershore College, which has currently proven to be very beneficial to me on a day-to-day basis. I believe that I have a high attention to detail and enjoy the challenges and rewards from my position at Rune.
David Gill - Landscape Supervisor: Hi, I’m David. I have worked in the landscape industry for over 10 years during which I have gained a wide knowledge of the subject, from hard material construction to soil preparation and planting. After leaving secondary education I became an apprentice bricklayer for a couple of years which then led me to enjoy outdoor based work. After working for a couple of national design and landscape companies i embarked on a Supervisory position with Rune. My role is varied using many different landscape and horticultural skills, which help achieve the overall effect of gardens we create. Completed garden projects and working on award winning gardens always have and will definitely continue to be a highlight to me. (Dave is currently not working for Rune due to a severe accident last year, we hope he has a speed recovery and gets back to work soon.)
Sam Dallimore - Landscaper: Hi I’m Sam, I started with Rune as the company’s apprentice, working 4 days a week, and going to college to study NVQ level 2 Amenity Horticulture 1 day a week. I graduated last year. I love learning and developing my skills within the landscape profession. It’s also great being part of a team such as Rune. Outside of my working life, I have many interests and hobbies, such as tennis, football, rugby and especially socializing with friends.
Andrew Dawson - Design Assistant: Currently studying garden design at Pershore College, I spend the rest of my week at Rune helping bring Jono’s designs to life on the page. For me gardens provide the opportunity to balance aesthentic and horticultural considerations;learning about design was a logical progression from my RHS horticultural certificate I studied for at Edinbururgh’s Royal Botanic Garden. This Followed degree in Ecological Science from Edinburgh University, where I was led by my fascination with the natural world. It was here that my appreciation of our relationship with the landscape deepened. I see garden design as an opportunity to express ideas about that interaction and to stage aesthetic impressions gathered of plants and places over 12 years working in gardens and nurseries, and during countless hours of free time spent soaking up places across britain.
Shaun Bennett - Assistant Landscaper: Shauny has recently joined Rune, his thoughts will be with us shortly!!!
